Zamburiña

DESCRIPTION

The zamburiña (Aequipecten opercularis) It is a bivalve mollusk that lives on the sandy bottoms of the ocean. Native to the northeastern Atlantic Ocean, it is small in size with a very thin and brittle shell.

They can be found in sand and gravel beds. The edible part of the scallop is the white muscle that opens and closes the two shells. The reproductive glands known as “coral” are also edible, although they are not widely consumed in the United States.

Nutritionally it stands out for:

  • Excellent source of vitamin B12.
  • Good source of minerals such as magnesium and potassium.
  • Contains omega-3 fatty acids.

Vima offers its zamburiñas in various presentations to satisfy all customer needs.

It is very important not to overcook the scallops, as excess heat will make them tough and fibrous.
