DESCRIPTION

 

The white shrimp, as it is more commonly known, or (Litopenaeus vannamei ) is the most successful of all farm-raised shrimp. Its commercial production began in 1996 in Asia, especially in China and India. The United States is the largest consumer market followed by Japan and Europe.

Among its nutritional qualities, cooked shrimp stand out for:

  • Low in calories.
  • They offer a beneficial dose of Omega-3 fatty acids.
  • Excellent source of protein.
  • Rich in vitamin B-12 and niacin, iron, zinc and copper.

Vima cooked shrimp is packaged and processed in a wide variety of different formats and sizes:

  • Cooked Shrimp, Peeled, Deveined, Tailed (PD TAIL ON): Shrimp count sizes per pound (the smaller the count size, the larger the shrimp): 16/20, 21/25, 41/50 , 51/60, 71/90
  • Cooked shrimp, peeled, deveined, tail removed (PD TAIL OFF): shrimp count sizes per pound (the smaller the count size, the larger the shrimp): 41/50, 51/60, 61/70 , 71/90.

Being a quality shrimp, it maintains its characteristic snap in the mouth and its typical, pleasant flavor. Cooked shrimp can be seasoned and used in an endless variety of preparations.
