DESCRIPTION

 

La almeja blanca o almeja del Pacífico, (Metrix lyrata) It is an edible marine bivalve mollusk. They grow and develop in sandy coastal areas of Vietnam, in the Pacific Ocean.

When cooked they have a soft, juicy texture and an unmistakable flavor.

It is important that the cooking period is short, since, if they are overcooked, they have a rubbery and harder texture.

They are ideal steamed, cooked or roasted and can be served alone or with fish stews or pasta and rice dishes.

Clams are a very nutritious food with interesting qualities such as:

  • They are a source of protein.
  • Rich in minerals and vitamins
  • Source of Omega-3 fatty acids.

White clams have become very popular in Asia, Europe and also the USA due to their tasty meat and attractive white color.
