RAW SHRIMP

DESCRIPTION

The white shrimp, as it is more commonly known, or (Litopenaeus vannamei) is the most successful of all farm-raised shrimp. Its commercial production began in 1996 in Asia, especially in China and India. The United States is the largest consumer market followed by Japan and Europe.

Raw shrimp come in a variety of colors, but when cooked they take on their characteristic reddish orange hue.

Raw shrimp has virtually no saturated fats and therefore has a low cholesterol level. Additionally, they have qualities such as:

  • Low in calories.
  • They offer a beneficial dose of Omega-3 fatty acids.
  • Excellent source of protein.
  • Rich in vitamin B-12 and niacin, iron, zinc and copper.

At Vima we offer raw shrimp in different sizes and formats:

  • PD (Peeled and deveined) TAIL ON shrimp: peeled and deveined shrimp with tail, whose size range is between 16/20,21/25 and 26/30 piece/pound.
  • HLSO Shrimp (Head less, Shell on): headless shrimp with shell whose size range is between 16/20,21/25, 26/30 pieces/pound.

Its firm texture and intense flavour make it, in any of its presentations, an ideal ingredient for any type of dish, whether as an appetizer or a main course.
